Trumpet Voluntary — Easy Piano
US$4.99
Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary, the Prince of Denmark's March, in the original key of D major, arranged so that a pianist in their first year or two can play it for a wedding entrance or a ceremony.
The right hand plays Clarke's melody exactly as he wrote it for harpsichord in 1700, with the trills left out. The left hand keeps his bass line in simple half and whole notes and stays in one hand position for most of the piece. The arrangement follows Clarke's own rondo form: the famous opening tune, a brighter middle section, the tune again, a gentle second section, and the tune once more to finish. There are no sixteenth notes. Fingering is marked wherever the hand moves, and dynamics and phrasing are included.
The opening tune has an optional repeat, so the piece can be stretched to fit a processional, and it ends with a held chord and a ritardando on the last time through.
2 pages, D major, 4/4, Maestoso (quarter = 100).
